It's The Latest, Greatest Thing!

 There is a new device available called the electronic cigarette or e-cigarette. It emulates a tobacco cigarette, but rather than burning tobacco, it vaporizes a liquid substance that contains nicotine. The liquid comes in a replacable cartridge. Each cartridge is apparently about the same as a pack of cigarettes. The nicotine cartridges come in high, medium, low and zero nicotine.

The vapor of the electronic cigarette is kind of like real smoke with no smell. It can be inhaled and exhaled. You can see it when it comes out, but then it immediately disappears.

                                                    How It Works

The e-cigs (electronic cigarettes)  are comprised of a rechargeable battery, an atomizer and a cartridge that comes in varying degrees of nicotine content ranging from high, medium, low and zero. The cartridge contains, water, flavor, nicotine and propylene glycol (a safe food additive).

When the user inhales at the mouthpiece, a small switch located in the battery is activated and power is delivered to the atomizer. The action is regulated by a microchip which is also located in the battery. When power from the battery is applied, the atomizer is energized and creates a vapor derived from the moisture and propylene glycol that is found in the cartridge. As the vapor passes through the cartridge, it picks up the nicotine and flavoring and delivers it to the user. The user absorbs the nicotine either through the mucus membranes in the mouth or through the lungs and then exhales.
